Grief is experienced at all ages, and even young children grieve a loss.  The losses can be a grandparent dying, loss of a parent, sibling, or even a beloved pet.  Being able to talk about the loss with a supportive person outside the family allows the grieving person to fully express how they feel.  Children often hesitate to discuss their feelings with the relatives who are left, since they don’t want to cause more sadness to those they love.
